Drawing Dance

A collaborative drawing project

Portfolio ยป Drawing Dance

In 2015 I proposed Drawing Dance project to Limerick Arts Office and was awarded a Grant Under the Arts to run it. It involved organising a two hour observational drawing workshop for visual artists, invited from the Limerick Figure Drawing Society, the Limerick Printmakers and the Limerick School of Art & Design. The subject of the workshop was professional contemporary dance artist, Lisa McLoughlin. Lisa led the workshop by moving through a continuous series of short improvised poses. The workshop afforded the artists a valuable opportunity to make drawings inspired by the dancers refined knowledge of presence, body and movement.

A public exhibition of the artists drawings including a stop-motion capture of the workshop by one of the artist participants, Alan Crowley, was held in Dance Limerick Church on National Drawing Day 2015, May 16th 2015.

Many thanks to:

Limerick Arts Office.
Dance Limerick for providing both the exhibition venue and the tech support for hanging the exhibition.
University of Limerick Arts Office for providing the Dromroe Village Hall as the workshop venue.
